We’re excited to announce the opening of Trivet, a stunning new restaurant at the JW Marriott Hotel in Auckland. Thanks, in part, to a number of our clients, the hotel’s refurbishment and this innovative dining experience, inspired by Aotearoa's multicultural essence, are now a reality.

The JW Marriot hotel is co-owned by CP Group, Archipelago Capital and Alvarium Investments.  When the refurbishment is completed, in December 2024, the hotel will feature 286 rooms of 5-star luxury accommodation, an executive lounge and lobby bar, 100-seat buffet restaurant, as well as a smaller speciality dining venue, 320m2 function space, four meeting rooms, an indoor heated swimming pool, large fitness centre, spa, and sauna. The brand’s principle of mindfulness will be an important element of the guest experience.

The opening of Trivet in August 2024 has been an important milestone for the hotel after its partial opening for guests in 2022. This fine dining restaurant is led by internationally acclaimed Chef Wallace (Uelese) Mua. Mua started his career at The Hilton, then was a head chef in France before coming home to cook for award winning Kingi, at Hotel Britomart. He has also been the lead chef on-tour with The All Blacks.

“Trivet is more than just a restaurant; it’s a reflection of my personal journey and the influences that have shaped my culinary philosophy,” Chef Wallace explains. “Each dish tells a story, blending flavours and techniques from around the world to create something truly unique.”

JW Marriot is renowned, particularly in the US market, as a leader in luxury hotels and hospitality. Alvarium saw an exceptional opportunity for the hotel within the New Zealand market.

“We see New Zealand as a secure real estate market buoyed by a rebounding hospitality and tourism sector, and well-positioned post the peak of the pandemic,” said Alvarium co-founder, Andrew Williams.

“This co-investment aligns with our long-term approach of working with teams that have a proven high-performing record to drive returns for our clients and our firm through timely investment opportunities.”

Alvarium staff and clients have enjoyed 5-star dining at the hotel this month to celebrate the restaurant opening. We are proud to be able to offer unique investment opportunities like JW Marriot for our wholesale clients in New Zealand and Australia.
