Advisers
Alana has 20 years’ experience in capital markets, working with corporates and investors across a range of equity markets, investment banking, wealth advisor and investor relations activities. She has also been the NZ Trade Commissioner in New York and helped build Investment NZ's offshore presence. She has lived and worked in the USA, Hong Kong and Australia and she returned to New Zealand with her family in 2015.
Alana holds Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) degrees from the University of Otago. Alana is a Graduate of AICD and a Member of the Institute of Directors and of INFINZ
Nish joined Alvarium in February 2020 after working at BNZ Private Bank and Westpac Private & Wealth for 17 years looking after high-net worth clients and their families. Before coming to New Zealand, he worked with a Fortune 500 Oil company in India.
Nish focuses on Real Estate and Private Capital investments for Alvarium. He has decades of experienced looking after high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients ensuring they are investing in diversified portfolios that span the Alvarium offering.
Nish is a registered financial adviser, has a Post Graduate Diploma in Personal Financial planning from the University of Waikato and is a Certified Financial Planner. He was an international table tennis player and currently enjoys playing tennis competitively on the Auckland Tennis Circuit.
Kevin's career encompasses senior executive roles with multi-national organisations to advising high-net-worth families on intergenerational investment strategies. He has expertise in the design and construction of portfolios for New Zealand and international investors including fixed income, international equity, real estate, private equity and alternative investment strategies.
Kevin values building trusted professional relationships with clients based on a thorough understanding of a family's values and expectations.
Simon joined Alvarium in 2018 when they acquired a controlling interest in New Zealand Assets Management, a company Simon was a principal of since 1997. He was also an investment banker at Fay Richwhite for 12 years.
Simon has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Law Degree from the University of Canterbury. He was a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand for 40 years. He is a Trustee of the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust and a Director of Northern Rescue Helicopter Limited.
Mike's experience spans financial advice, investment management and banking industries. Prior to co-founding Newton Ross in 2003, he was Chief Operating Officer for BT Funds Management Limited (NZ) and Director of Investments for the Sovereign Group. He also held senior investment management positions in Australia.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Business and a Diploma in Financial Planning. He is a Practitioner Member of SIFA.
Mike has a particular expertise working with large family offices, charitable trusts and independent trustees to assist them in building investment policies and processes that help them meet their objectives and fiduciary obligations. He believes that having a clear roadmap and framework for making the right investment decisions is critical.
Mark has over 30 years’ experience in financial services. He provides individuals and families with wealth advisory, tailored securities portfolio, and real estate investment management services.
Mark has substantial experience working with higher-net worth clients, understanding their requirements, and assisting them to optimise their investment objectives. He has assisted migrants from around the globe with their NZ focused financial decisions, including those who require advice and investment management services to meet visa acceptable investment criteria.
Mark worked as Private Client Manager with HSBC for 18 years and as a Financial Adviser with Newton Ross for 8 years. He has also worked for Old Mutual Plc in the UK and ANZ New Zealand. He holds a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies (Financial Planning) from Massey University, is a Certified Financial Planner (CFPcm) and is a Practitioner Member of both Financial Advice New Zealand and SIFA.
Elena has cultivated strong relationships across the finance and investment sectors over 15 years. She has experience in the banking sector bringing experience in relationship management, particularly for multinational clients with a presence in the UK, USA, Australia, Japan, and NZ. Previously specialising in the construction industry, Elena has originated, structured, negotiated, and settled debt funding and investment opportunities.
Elena holds a degree in Business Studies with a major in Finance and Marketing, she is fluent in both English and Russian and has basic knowledge of Mandarin Chinese.
Her expertise in deal execution and robust credit risk analysis ensures the delivery of optimal returns while mitigating risk.
Jeanette has almost ten years' experience in financial services. She specialises in creating personalised investment strategies for high-net-worth clients and is dedicated to establishing long-term relationships that help clients achieve their financial goals with integrity and excellence. Jeanette believes in ethical investing and demonstrates that impressive returns can be achieved while upholding strong values.
Jeanette holds a Diploma in Financial Planning Personal Advice, a New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services and is pursuing a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies - Personal Financial Planning.
Outside of work, Jeanette is passionate about youth development and engages in initiatives supporting young people.
Will's experience within the financial sector includes Private Banks, Investment Banks and stock broking firms in New Zealand and abroad. He has been a been a practicing financial adviser since 2001.
Will holds a Bachelor of Commerce in accounting from the Auckland University and a Diploma of Business Studies in Personal Financial Planning. He is a Practitioner Member of SIFA
Will’s focuses on gaining an in-depth understanding of client's circumstances and building models for forecasting expected outcomes – before taking courses of action. His goal is to provide peace of mind and practical solutions - something he finds immensely rewarding.
Rick has seven years experience in financial services spanning investment advisory, wealth management, personal cashflow management, residential property investments and banking. He also has experience running his own business as a consultant on business strategy. He is passionate about working with clients to help them achieve greater financial outcomes.
Rick holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and Management from the University of Otago and is currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies - Personal Financial Planning.
He is a former New Zealand Ice Hockey Team goalie of 11 years and he played professionally offshore.
Real Estate
Shane as more than 25 years' experience in the property industry from markets including New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Europe and the Middle East. He has extensive experience in raising capital, driving investment strategies for real estate fund businesses and managing value-add real estate transactions that include refurbishment, redevelopment and repositioning of assets.
Shane was previously a partner in Resolution Property, London where he was responsible for executing on EUR 4 billion of real estate assets across five funds in the United Kingdom, Poland, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Belgium, Romania and Hungary.
After 20 years in London, he returned to Auckland at the end of 2021.
Shane graduated from Auckland University with a Bachelor of Property Degree.
Jo has 20+ years experience in the residential, retail and commercial property industry. She has worked on numerous construction projects across NZ ranging in value from $1M to $195M. Jo has a record of delivering strong results across different international markets and is currently responsble for leading the Alvarium property team and Strategic Property on multi-million dollar projects.
Andrew has a 40-year career in real estate and asset management that spans the globe. He has worked in Australia, Asia Pacific, the Middle East and London. Over this time, he has advised on projects in more than 30 countries and continues to be actively involved in multiple jurisdictions around the world.
Andrew was the founding partner and co-chairman of Alvarium from 2009. After successfully growing the global family office with 12 branches worldwide, he moved to Auckland where he started Alvarium Investments New Zealand (AINZ) in 2017. He is currently the Executive Director of Alvarium and oversees its real estate interests.
Andrew is passionate about youth development and is chair of The Prince’s Trust Aotearoa New Zealand. He is on the board of the Prince's Trust Group Co.

Malcolm's experience ranges across private and public companies, spanning a range of sectors including finance, energy, aviation, and space travel. Originally from Canada, he brings experience from multiple sectors and geographies.

Brett has an extensive background in private equity and corporate finance globally, having worked in the USA, UK, Australia and New Zealand. He is currently CEO of Gough Investments Ltd where he leads the Gough Investments team and is responsible for the investment and asset management strategy and the overall operations of Gough Investments and the Gough Family Office
Brett is a co-owner and executive director at Alvarium. He holds a number of directorships, including for Mike Greer Homes and Mojo Coffee, Rua Bioscience and has grown businesses in both ownership and executive roles.
Alongside his commercial endeavours, Brett also chairs a South Island-based cancer charity, Chalky Carr Trust.
Wayne leads the investment team for Alvarium and sister company Pathfinder. Wayne has 30 years' experience in financial advice, investment management and finance industries. He has been responsible for managing investment portfolios for Alvarium high-net-worth clients for the past 3 years.
Prior to Alvarium, Wayne founded Newton Ross, a private wealth management company. He was also General Manager Investments for the Sovereign Group where he was responsible for the investment of NZ$3.5bn on behalf of 600,000 investors.
Wayne has extensive direct portfolio management skills as well as fund manager selection, portfolio construction and asset allocation experience.
John is committed to making ethical investment accessible to all New Zealand investors. He works tirelessly to spread his belief that no one should have to choose between a good investment and an ethical one. He has become an industry leader and advocate for responsible and ethical investing.
Before co-founding Pathfinder in 2009 John worked in law firms and investment banks in Auckland, London and Sydney. He has a Bachelor of Commerce and Law Degree from Auckland University. He is a board member of Men’s Health Trust.
Bernard manages Alvarium operations in Australia that began in 2018. He is responsible for capital flows from Australia into Alvarium’s worldwide structures, Australian debt and equity investment portfolio and wholesale asset management functions.
Bernard is former non-executive Chairman of Australia’s largest private residential land developer. Prior to joining Alvarium Bernard led a $17bn corporate banking division of Australia’s largest bank, working with corporates and private families across all property asset classes and a broad range of operating businesses. Prior to banking he was CEO of a large agri-food business. He has lived and worked in Australia, USA and UK, beginning his career in New Zealand with Colliers Jardine.
Bernard holds an MBA with honours from the Williams School of Business at Xavier University, Ohio and a Bachelor of Commerce in Real Estate. He is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Ross has held senior management roles across various sectors including utilities and property. He has 15+ years financial services experience in wealth management including at Westpac in Sydney and UBS in London. Ross previously led Alvarium's internal change and integration programme and stepped up to COO to support business performance and growth.
He holds a Bachelors degree in Management Studies from the University of Auckland, and a Master of Commerce in Business Administration from the University of Canterbury.
Mei has extensive experience in banking, finance, tax and compliance and has worked in law firms in Hong Kong, London and Wellington. She also managed a wine business introducing New Zealand wines to the New York market.
Mei has a Bachelor or Law and Bachelor or Commerce in accounting and finance from Victoria University. She has been head of compliance since 2016.

Simon has financial oversight for Investment and Wealth Management. He is a Chartered Accountant, starting his career in audit with EY in Auckland and then London. He has worked in financial markets roles in London, predominantly at Barclays Capital, where he spent five years in Business Development and as a COO for Foreign Exchange & Emerging Markets. He has also worked in a strategy role with Sealord before moving internally to Group Treasurer, and then progressing to CFO at a derivatives broker; OM Financial (now Jarden).

Sandy was appointed Chairman of Alvarium Wealth in 2020 and has worked with the board to maintain high standards of corporate governance over the last decade.
Sandy sits on a number of corporate boards including Fronde Limited, Coretex Limited and Connexionz Limited and has previously been on boards of many listed and private NZ companies.
Sandy has held senior executive roles in the financial services industry. He has a Bachelor of Arts from from Yale University and a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School.

Ben is the Founder and Managing Director of Gough Investments Ltd and the Ben Gough Family Office. He has a broad range of experience and is directly engaged in private equity, commercial development and asset management. Previous and current governance roles include Directorships at Mike Greer Homes (NZ), Southbase Construction, Deputy Chair at Gough Group and Mons Royale. Ben brings commercial experience and a long-term perspective that balances entrepreneurial and established commercial interests. He is particularly proud of his roles in establishing the Ben Gough Family Foundation and being a Founding Trustee for the Prince’s Trust New Zealand.
Rukumoana is a professional director across a number of industries including finance, energy, water, charitable and the public sectors with a background in commercial and property law. Previously Chairperson, Rukumoana remains an influential member and leader within her iwi Waikato-Tainui.
She is renowned as a hard-working, principled ‘bridge builder’ and a diverse thinker and was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2022 for her services to Māori and the Community. Inspired by her tūpuna (ancestors), she strives to make a difference and do what is right for the people of Aotearoa.
Her strengths lie in working across corporates, communities, and iwi to make positive social change. Rukumoana is influenced by her Ngāti Hauā ancestor Wiremu Tamihana, a leader significantly involved in establishing and leading his people in service to the Māori King movement throughout mid to late-1800s; she endeavours to emulate his qualities of peace-making, unity, strong values, and faith in her own leadership journey.
